I've taken to visiting tumblr again after a long hiatus almost daily to fill my mind of pretty things such as the picture above (Not claiming credit!). I'm still taking things pretty easy everyday to be honest, which I'll probably regret very soon...:( Doing therapeutic frameworks just seem to be such slow, slow progress compared to reading lectures. :((
Depressing, looming things aside, I just booked tickets to Tokyo, Japan for 2 weeks in July with 2 pals woohoo! Time is going to fly really soon, during this exam period, and also the period after till September when I begin work. I shall be very sad bidding many things farewell.
Anyway until the 13th of June, I shall give it my best. 今から六月十三日まで、頑張ります!
Today and tomorrow heralds the beginning of temperature reaching above 20 degree Celsius in the day in London. Its above my preferred range of 10-20 but hey I'm not complaining about the sunshine and long daylight hours (all the more to study with...or to aid trying at least).
花見ることのために公園に行きたい。でも時間がないから、家へ帰ったときに小さい公園を入った。
Ideally I would have made a trip to a park like hyde park or regents to see all the new blooms, but since I haven't got the time to do so, decided to enter a small green space along the way home in bloomsbury. My obvious fixation with the lone pink tree in the compound:
Its just too gloriously outstanding even alone. Blue, pink and green (powerpuff girls colours) is such a nice combination.
Even the shrubs outside the window are starting to show their colours.
Departed from the usual potato mash cooking method by making a potato and leek gratin the other day. Probably would have tasted better with butter/cream etc but hey this light version with just milk and cheddar is great too! Just layer thinly sliced potatoes with stir-fried leeks and cheese, topped with milk in a gratin dish and oven for an hour or so.
Even a light jacket is too warm when the sun hits directly!
My fringe is inching towards a decent length finally gradually. (Can't pull off the above the eyebrow look.)
Yesterday was kinda like a reunion day before the exams proper cause we had out academic year photo taking, and last combined lectures for the entire level, and the weather was really sunny.
昨日は2013等級の写真を撮ると最後の全等級の講義の日でした。あの日に太陽はとても強かった!
Graduating class of 2013 UCL School of Pharmacy
On the wonderfully constructed sturdy stands which held around 200 people.

Filling up.

The sun was really strong! I was on the very last row at the back.
Candid moment shot seems mostly only afflicting the top rows. ^^; We have a serious class. X)

My coordinate that day:
Trying to channel a little harajuku-ness with the new galaxy print skirt and colourful and metallic silver mix tweed flatforms from ASOS.
The sunny weather does have its downside though, with no fan nor air-conditioning in the room and the lack of breeze makes it too warm for comfort! I'm positively sweating in the room even with the bare minimum of light airy clothes. its worse than in Singapore, when I at least have my arsenal of cooling equipment.
Going for grocery shopping now!~ Tons of work to do. やばいー
I'm glad I got back when the weather's just turned good (maybe for a week or so it's been this way). And by good I mean sunny and blue skies like Singapore, but with none of the crazy humidity and heat. Kinda like an air-conditioned Singapore, which is like the dream weather ain't it? :D
My messy backyard.
Wore my retainers yesterday after 5 months and crazy pain ensued so this morning post taking it out I had to go with soft foods like oatmeal. And my new rilakkuma diary arrived! It came all the way from hongkong, and was returned to the company cause I had a mistake with the address and I paid postage for it to come again. So its a very well-traveled diary. =_= The old one at the bottom is of date a month ago, but I really like the design (my melody in pastels), probably better than the new one.
Sigh, I have yet to start my humongous catching-up-with-work task.
Recently, the weather turned cold suddenly.
There was light snow on Monday.
I'm once again wearing thick clothing.
I feel like I have a slight fever so I'm attempting to fight it off with loads of strawberries and water. Everyone take care too!
Sad to say I think I might be suffering from a case of senioritis, a term I learnt today. :/ I hope its not going to be detrimental to my record so far! My damage control is not very effective! :((
Well, today marks 2 weeks till start of my exams and with the advent of a (finally) colder climate here of around freezing, the beginning of the peak of my sedentary lifestyle is here. Other than grappling with the consequences of revision procrastination, my teeth also decided they want attention and is gingerly hurting with occasional flares brought on by less cautious chewing and whatnots. My hair and skin is also frizzing and cracking somewhat.
On the brightside, all my recent online shopping orders came through (saw so many mailmen) including bodyshop tolietries, the usual bag and clothes and more significantly, a yellowpikachu nintendo 3dsxl console!
(Yes I gave in against better judgement).
Got the cartridges for pokemon white 2 and a free e-download professor layton & the miracle mask, and waiting for "The world ends with you" to arrive.
Some thoughts on the console itself: -The design is average, it could be cuter with a full bodied pikachu instead but no complaints here. it is limited edition and so far released only in Japan and Europe so I'm happy it will be a rare species in Singapore (for the moment at least). -Screen resolution is like the reviews said, not as clear as it can be. Even my samsung ace phone has better screen, but is a bummer I guess cause it is the one thing I think could have made this console perfect. The selling point is its 3D capability which nintendo tried to maximise with things like augmented reality etc, but if the resolution is poor, it highlights the fact that you are still seeing it on a screen instead of helping the imagination that it is more like a hologram. -Nintendo's interface is cutesy vs sony etc (Japan. figures) which is definitely appealing to girls. :) -Its a little heavy, but feels sturdy and durable. -There is a browser for internet but its not as friendly to use as your handy smartphones.
Overall I think it is (definitely) a tad overpriced, since the games are all so expensive 20-30+pds per game?!? (keeping in mind i traditionally do not fork out money for all the games i have played, this is too much for my poor wallet.) And the blasphemy is that some games like pokemon black and white only allows one save file so your friend/family member can't even share a cartridge. :(
But well, price gripes aside, its a cute little nifty gaming console to keep in your bag and open up at will to play it. I especially like leaving it on sleep mode and flipping it open to see the game loaded on the screen immediately. Thats something a PC can't do!
Just finished my hospital attachment, which was only 3 hours and not what I expected it to be (a full day) and is now typing up the mandatory portfolio crap. Presentation went OK yesterday too, so I'm done with any school related stuff for the week, except for the assignments and revision of course.
Been spending money quite freely recently on non-necessities I think (travel, fashion), and I'm developing a bad habit of creeping on shopping sites online since boxing day. Only popped into a physical store recently for the sales and I must say I like picking up random bargains more physically cause they don't stock those 1 or 2 last pieces online. I'm also still undecided what I should make T buy for my late christmas present (lol.) He couldn't think of what to get me (or rather I couldn't so we postponed it). I got him a ukulele but since he didn't seem to like it (it was a banjo he wanted silly me!) so I kept it instead. Didn't bear to return it cause it was a sweet little instrument that was light as a feather and well I test strummed some simple songs and it comes up as a discernible tune. Considering my shitty skills at stringed instruments like the guitar, the fact that this instrument allowed me to play a tune in such a short time made it a keeper in my opinion.
ANYWAY, i'm really eyeing this:
just cause I want to own one and not because I need something to play on tube rides (I'm very capable of stoning/zoning out/blanking my mind) or preoccupy my idle times. I always thought a (pink/red) DS is a very cute object to own and this pikachu one is just too irresistible by the sheer attraction of the mascot (not the design admittedly). >< PIKAAA I do play games legitimately (harvest moon, prof layton, pokemon and jap rpgs) so it won't be all that useless buy!
Also, just to spread AYU love, link to her CDL 2012-2013(滨崎步 COUNTDOWN LIVE 2012-2013 ~WAKE UP~ 跨年演唱会)! Recently many fans have remarked on her poor vocal performance, and I do kinda agree its not as good as before sadly, but its just entertaining to watch her live. :) I also spent some of my last day of 2012 watching the annual NYE NHK kouhaku uta gassen and she had the opening performance with a medley of her older more well-known songs dearest-evolution-SURREAL:
and since i really like SURREAL, here's a better rendition!
Happy watching!
