Cross necklace coordinates

To be honest I rarely try to dress up much, and perhaps this is because I don't really go out often, so from winter till now I haven't taken many outfit shots. I guess putting effort into coordinating clothes take a certain state of mind, not for when you're rushing to uni or just feeling lazy. But I think for the remainder of my time in the UK, i shall try to put in more effort because hey, tropical weather restricts the    style of dressing I that like, which doesn't allow tights, nor jackets nor too many layers. I shall miss being able to wear layers, long socks, and boots for example for a actual practical purpose! Well, they all feature cross necklaces...I have like...at least 5 different ones now? Yeah i really like them! Maybe I will start collecting them. I do get questions like, are you christian often though, and I have to explain its just for fashion.

Yesterday's. Its in a changing room, but they are all mine! Necklace from Topshop, cardigan from uniqlo, top from river island, skirt from Ocean pacific, shoes from clarks.
Months ago lol, when it was still cold but not too cold. Cardigan from oasis, white top from uniqlo, shorts from river island.

When it was freezing out. Skirt from ASOS. Cross necklace from New Look.
Such an unproductive day today. Meant to work but ended up listening to music etc....

Academic photo day

Yesterday was kinda like a reunion day before the exams proper cause we had out academic year photo taking, and last combined lectures for the entire level, and the weather was really sunny.
昨日は2013等級の写真を撮ると最後の全等級の講義の日でした。あの日に太陽はとても強かった!

Graduating class of 2013 UCL School of Pharmacy
On the wonderfully constructed sturdy stands which held around 200 people.

Brunswick park with international hall on the left.
Filling up.

Lecturers and staff
The sun was really strong! I was on the very last row at the back.

Candid moment shot seems mostly only afflicting the top rows. ^^; We have a serious class. X)

 My coordinate that day:
Trying to channel a little harajuku-ness with the new galaxy print skirt and colourful and metallic silver mix tweed flatforms from ASOS.
The sunny weather does have its downside though, with no fan nor air-conditioning in the room and the lack of breeze makes it too warm for comfort! I'm positively sweating in the room even with the bare minimum of light airy clothes. its worse than in Singapore, when I at least have my arsenal of cooling equipment.

Going for grocery shopping now!~ Tons of work to do. やばいー

First day back and the weather is glorious.

I'm glad I got back when the weather's just turned good (maybe for a week or so it's been this way). And by good I mean sunny and blue skies like Singapore, but with none of the crazy humidity and heat. Kinda like an air-conditioned Singapore, which is like the dream weather ain't it? :D

My messy backyard.

Wore my retainers yesterday after 5 months and crazy pain ensued so this morning post taking it out I had to go with soft foods like oatmeal. And my new rilakkuma diary arrived! It came all the way from hongkong, and was returned to the company cause I had a mistake with the address and I paid postage for it to come again. So its a very well-traveled diary. =_= The old one at the bottom is of date a month ago, but I really like the design (my melody in pastels), probably better than the new one.

Sigh, I have yet to start my humongous catching-up-with-work task.

See ya!

I love airplane food.

And Singapore Airlines has one of the best I've tried.

Singapore fried carrot cake with prawns, fruits, muffin, cereal, bread roll.

Fish masala with basmati rice, ladyfingers, crabmeat pasta salasd, panna cotta, biscuit and bread roll.
In London now and feeling very sleepy. Cleaned up room, unpacked and washed sheets so this deserves a nice sleep. Plus I popped back my retainers after not wearing it for almost half a year, so this is giving me a dull ache. 今ロンドンに居ます、超眠いです。へやを清潔にして、荷物をアンパックして、シーツを洗いましたから、いい寝ることを値します。寝ましょう。

Last night of Easter break at home

In 8 hours i'll be on the plane out of lovely Singapore back to London again. Spend my last day with the parents in the day and best friends on a 90min cruise at Boat Asia 2013 around Sentosa and the coast of Singapore in the evening. It was really a wonderful time and I'm really sad to leave. But knowing this is the last time I'm flying back for studies and 2, 3 months will past really soon, I guess this parting is very temporary.

Besties of 10 years

Looking out to the sea at night away from the hustle and bustle of the main island easily puts one into a reflective mood. On this night I wish for everyone in Singapore that I care for the best of health and luck for whatever they have to face in this few months until I come back and to spend my time with them again.

Wait for me!

Metallic cartoon nails

The stash of nail polishes at home seems to be mostly metallic/glitter colours, so here's the random mash up I did
Metallic heart and star nail art

Added black cartoony lines to help the different metallic shades stand out.
Penned in the lines with a black ink pen. Did it in a rush so its not a very good job when looked closely, but its because I've done it once before and it faded even though the ink pen is waterproof, so this time I didn't bother to do it properly lol. Did a layer of top coat over it.

Also sparkly is my new replacement earrings after losing one side of my previous one in brussels. After much deliberation decided I still like the star-like pointy design best.

Anyway, started packing my bags today. Its a very empty luggage cause i'm trying to keep the flow of belongings between my second home and primary home this way--))). So it primarily food items again and the small luggage is in the big one. I'm sad to leave really. Its back to work and reality. I haven't done all that I meant to do this holiday. :( 5 weeks to exam is no joke with the amount I haven't done/studied. Sigh. well 2 months to go, I hope I pass!

Baked or non-baked cheesecake?

I'm a HUGE fan of cheesecake. Honestly really like it alot. Especially the fluffy, cotton-like japanese ones.  The problem is baking it is a little notoriously difficult and you often see people gripping about cracks on the surface, using water baths etc. But ok, well I maybe wrong about that but I've never really tried it before, so I decided to try two very easy recipes online that I've been meaning to.

The first is a no-bake tofu cheesecake and I followed the recipe by cooking with dog:

and this is the result:

Well its alot flatter than hers cos her tin was 15cm while mine was 23cm and I used the same amount of batter. but I actually think taste wise this height is a good amount. I also added cocoa powder to 1/4 of the batter and layered it over to try and create marbled patterns, but obviously my layering didn't go as well as I wanted and there was a slightly too little chocolate batter. But I actually think the chocolate taste adds alot to it. I seems a little bit more mousse-y than hers, perhaps i underestimated the gelatin and overadded the liquids cause I didn't have any weighing machine and kinda used whatever methods I can think of (cups, spoons, estimation based on packaging). But taste wise its like icecream without the extreme chill and I like the subtle sweetness. :) Its really nice! And when eating it you can console yourself that half of it is tofu and yoghurt and ignore the whipping cream and cream cheese half. I actually really wanted to make a matcha version but couldn't find any sold nearby so next time!

The second is a simple baked cheesecake, recipe by ochikeron:

The end result:

I think it looks pretty much like hers! I used strawberry wafers instead of her vanilla ones, but I might go with digestives next time. The artificial strawberry flavour is a little distracting. She wrapped it up like sweets so I think its a neat thing to make for gifts. :) Ran out of parchment paper but wasn't much of a problem. It tastes good for the amount of effort put in. ^^

Yeah it cracked cause the temperature she used was too high for my case.

Verdict:

I actually liked eating the creamer non-baked version. But initially I was apprehensive at how everything was really raw in it (did I keep everything sterile?). ^^; But got past it haha. You wouldn't think twice unless you made it. And with the baked one its like ~100% safe by heat sterilisation. haha. I think I prefer the non-baked one, but I think my bro likes the baked one.

Though the thing with cheesecakes is, cream cheese is relatively expensive at ~$5 per 250grams, so the cost of baking a tray is around $10. But well at least you know what goes in it compared to buying it outside, and as long as its cheesy I'm happy. :)
